Blog assignment #7
For me, the hardest part of this project was getting used to the technology. It was hard to get used to using google docs, blogger, and powerpoint when I could only work in one hour chunks. The speed of the computers didn't help either. It helped that we had so much time in class, I think that if we hadn't I would have fallen behind on the project. The assignment was a bit foggy, I have been unclear of exactly what our final project will be all the way through. It has also been kind of hard to maneuver Miss Hodge's site for information. I guess that this project is worth teaching, because it gave me new options that I will be able to use in the future, but it was definately a challenge!
Blog Assignment #6
This blog is an analysis of all of my research thus far. So here goes. My piece was made by David Alfaro Siqueiros. He was a socialist, and had very intense political views that rubbed off on most of his art. He lived in Mexico during the Mexican Muralist Movement. Portrait of the Bourgeoisie is an almost purely political piece, and os obviously very dark. It depicts fascism and capitalism as forces against society.
This piece really causes me to think about what goes on behind our political systems today. I think that this mural is an ingenious depiction of his ideas that provokes intense thought and feelings. Portrait of the Bourgeoisie depicts the darker potential of human kind with strikingly bold imagery. It shows how humans can be cruel, even sadistic, and just fall to our desire for money and power, loosing all of the morals that make us who we are.

Blog Assignment #4
Today I learned taht my piece was made during the industrial revolution. I also learned that it is considered to be one of Siquiros's greatest murals. I am still having problems finding out exactly what parts of the blog mean, and expect these to continue throughout. But overall it is going pretty smoothly. My next steps are interpriting the mural and finding what it was made to represent in general. I am also still trying to figure out if the octopus is a reference to Guatemala, which would be significant because Siquiros is Mexican.

Blog Assignments #3
I am doing my art project on Portrait of the Bourgeoisie, and I just found an image of it online! I have been trying to for a while, and have only been able to get small pieces of it. I was searching for it on google, and my computer froze, and then it just went to a page with the mural on it! Anyway, I am going to put it on my blog now. My next steps are going to be looking at and anntlizing it in depth, as well as continuing to search for other interpritations on it online.

Why can't I read all of my last blog?
On my last entry, I used Dot Dot Dot, and i can't read past that point, which stinks, because I had some sweet stuff on there. (not to mention my assignment for my class). So this time, I won't ever use Dot Dot Dot, and if the whole thing shows up, it will prove that that was the problem. ok, not PROVE it, but it will be good enough for me. So I am just sitting here listening to music that I don't understand (because it is in spanish) but that is really good, and thinking of things to write. I think that this should be long enough to be a good test.
I hate being sick!!!, Human Form in Art Research Project & Random
